Symantec pcAnywhere
provides multiple levels of security to ensure only
authorized users can connect to a pcAnywhere host.
Host and remote serialization capabilities allow
administrators to prevent outside access by adding
security codes to all host and remote objects that
must be present on both sides to make a connection.
And the Integrity Checking feature lets
administrators lock down installations to prevent
hackers from changing pcAnywhere settings—and
shuts down pcAnywhere operations if changes are
detected. Connections can also be restricted to
specified TCP/IP addresses and subnets. These
features, plus PKI and Symmetric encryption,
mandatory passwords, and extensive logging
(including applications used and files accessed
during each session) ensure that only authorized
users can access a pcAnywhere host machine. The
Remote Access Perimeter Scanner further protects the
network by locating and preventing unsecured hosts
on the network or phone lines.
