Successful project management requires cost-effective, timely completion of projects that align with business objectives. Your organization can manage its projects to achieve better business results by ensuring that the infrastructure and tools are in place for project teams to collaborate, learn from past experiences, and acquire the necessary information to act quickly.

Microsoft Project Server 2002 provides organizations with an extensible technology platform to securely develop and successfully deploy best practices for project management across your organization. Through a centrally-managed repository for standardized project and resource data, Microsoft Project Server provides teams with convenient access to business-critical information through its Web interface, Microsoft Project Web Access. By providing powerful Web-based collaboration, analysis, and reporting tools, Microsoft Project Web Access enables entire project teams—including team members, resource managers, and executives—to stay informed, up-to-date, and on track.

With its enterprise-ready security and performance capabilities, Microsoft Project Server provides a customizable foundation for organizations to successfully develop and integrate their project management processes with their current and future business systems.

Quick Access to Business-Critical Information:

With Microsoft Project Web Access, team members and executives can quickly view, analyze, and update project information without installing Microsoft Project on their computers. With just a Web browser, each user has access to powerful tools to manage project work in a single, consolidated location. Since project and resource information is stored centrally and consistently in Microsoft Project Server, companies can standardize reporting practices for strategic insight into the performance of a project portfolio and efficiently manage and optimize resources across projects.

Robust Management and Administration:

Microsoft Project Server delivers secure, manageable access to business-critical information. Administrators can control access to Microsoft Project Server by assigning permissions to groups and users, so team members and executives can view and update only the information that they have permission to access. New scalability enhancements offer support for enterprise usage scenarios so your organization can support growth and handle increased demand.

Highly Extensible Platform:

Microsoft Project Server provides a customizable platform and tools that can be extended and integrated across business systems to meet your company's project, resource, and knowledge management needs. An open architecture, featuring industry standards such as XML messaging and SOAP, delivers smooth alignment and information exchange with other business applications and databases!!

Features/Specifications
  • Attractive Retail Box
  • 5 Client Licenses Included
  • Quick Access to Business-Critical Information:
  • Web-based User Interface
Microsoft Project Web Access, the Microsoft Project Server Web client, provides team members and stakeholders with convenient access to project information through a Web browser. With this easy-to-use Web interface, users can review, update, and analyze role-specific information and collaborate to ensure that project goals are aligned with business objectives.
  • E-mail Notifications
Keep teams informed with automated e-mail reminders through an SMTP e-mail notification system. E-mails alert the team of important events, such as project updates and upcoming milestones. Adjust notifications to the appropriate level by specifying the types and frequency of e-mail notifications that are sent. Microsoft Project also supports MAPI workgroup messages.
  • Integration with SharePoint™ Team Services from Microsoft
Enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing among team members. Integration with SharePoint Team Services provides an out-of-the-box solution for centrally sharing documents and tracking issues.
  • Standardized Data and Custom Fields
Define organization-wide standards by creating and centrally storing custom fields for tasks, resources, and projects. Applying standards ensures consistent, accurate, and complete cross-project and resource reports.
  • Enterprise Templates
Drive adoption of best practices and procedures through enterprise templates. Centrally store and deploy templates through Microsoft Project Server for consistent and up-to-date project planning.
  • Enterprise Resources
Manage resources effectively with a central enterprise resource database. Centrally storing resource information enables managers and executives to maximize resource capabilities and get accurate, up-to-date information about assignments, utilization, and availability across the organization.
  • Robust Management and Administration:
  • User Permissions
Simplify managing user accounts by creating and setting permissions for groups to control access to project information. Use predefined group permissions, or customize permissions to meet your organization's needs. You can further tailor access to project data by specifying permissions for individual users.
  • Project Data Server
Using XML and SOAP, the Project Data Server (PDS) provides a middle-tier security layer that filters project information based on individual user permissions. With the PDS, project team members can view and update only the information that they have permission to access.
  • Secure Authentication
Microsoft Project Server enables users with or without a Windows user account to access the server using Windows integrated security or Microsoft Project Server security.
  • Check-in and Check-out
Permission to modify enterprise projects is securely controlled with the Microsoft Project Server check-in/check-out method. Microsoft Project Server protects the project portfolio by preventing multiple users from accessing and editing the same information at the same time.
  • Scalability
Microsoft Project Server accommodates performance and scalability needs through load balancing for the servers and clustering for the database server. Microsoft Project Server provides organizations with the flexibility to enhance system performance by distributing the load of servers to separate computers as needed.
  • Microsoft Project Server Database Cleanup
Create more space in Microsoft Project Server by deleting outdated information. Projects, tasks, resource task changes and status reports can be removed for easier Microsoft Project Server maintenance.
  • Resource Table and OLAP Cube Updates
The date range and frequency of resource table and OLAP cube updates can be set so that portfolio views include timely and accurate reporting and analysis information.
  • Actionable Spooler Messages
Pop-up alerts with actionable messages notify you of errors when updating information to Microsoft Project Server and give actionable error messages.
  • Highly Extensible Platform:
  • Support for Industry Standards
Using industry standards such as XML and SOAP, Microsoft Project Server integrates and exchanges schema and data with other line-of-business applications and databases.
  • Microsoft Project OLE DB Provider
The Microsoft Project OLE DB provider has been improved to include support for time-phased data, additional tables, and extended properties for data access pages.
  • Microsoft Project Web Access Components
Organizations can extend and customize Microsoft Project Web Access more due to improvements to the programmable interfaces of the controls.
  • Dashboard Web Parts
Microsoft Project Server Web pages have been broken into smaller components to provide easy Web Part creation without the need to write Active Server Pages. Include various Microsoft Project Web Access pages in a dashboard or view them from within Microsoft Project.
  • Systems Integration
The Microsoft Project Server open architecture allows you to integrate Microsoft Project Server with your organization’s current document management or issue tracking solutions through an extensible server-side object.
