| In the past,
religion and the gaming industry have had a strained
relationship at best. The constant depictions of
violence and destruction in many of today's games has
done little to bridge the widening gap between these two
worlds. In addition, things like satanic references,
rewards for immoral actions, and degradation of women in
games have divided these two sides even further.
Religious groups have had their share of rants and
complaints concerning computer gaming, and in response
the industry has avoided most things with any religious
significance. That is, until the recent release of
Requiem: Avenging Angel. Not only does this title
feature clear, strong ties to all things holy, it also
showcases rampant killing, plenty of gore, and a pretty
impressive armory of physical and angelic weaponry. What
remains to be seen is if the game can handle its
understandably sensitive subject matter, and more
importantly be enjoyable to play!! |
