Grim Fandango
takes place in the fabled Mexican land of the dead. The
main character, who you play as, is named Manny Calavera.
Manny is a 'travel agent' in the land of the dead. The
land of the dead is just like the living in that people
eat, drink, sleep, and have lives. Manny is the one
known throughout the living world as Death or the
Grim Reaper. Manny escorts people ready to die
into the land of the dead, and he starts them off on
their four year journey of the soul. As you enter the
story Manny is discovers that he is not earning his
'quota' of people taken to their destinations. This is
no accident either, Manny finds out that a web of crime
and corruption is getting in his way of all the good
clients. Manny kidnaps a very prominent looking client,
only to realize even she has been given a 'raw deal' of
a travel package. At this point getting yourself and
this damsel into the next stage and out of trouble is
