The future of
mobile computing is MultiMedia Card. The 64 MB
MultiMedia Card ultra small volume card (32 x 24 x
1.2mm) weighing less than 1.5g and operating at 2.7 to
3.6 volts will ensure that tomorrows Cellular phones,
PDA's, music players and electronic organisers will have
portable memory solutions.
A 64MB MMC music card will allow you to store up to 2
hours of MP3 music, it depends on what capture rate was
used to record the MP3 song. At 80Kb/s most songs have
no distortion that a human can hear and this will allow
for a full 2 hours of MP3 music to be stored on the card.
Each song will take up about 1.5MB for a 3 minute song.
The MultiMediaCard, introduced in
November, 1997, is the world's smallest solid state
storage device. It weighs less than two grams and is the
size of a postage stamp. The card initially is being
targeted at numerous markets including mobile phones and
MP3 music players. More than 35 companies
have joined the MultiMediaCard Association, which was
founded in May, 1998.
