Computer Review NAVIGATOR

Megahertz 28.8 Pcmcia modem.

Megahertz has the largest share of PC Card modems in Canada, and is most likely the largest share holder of PC Card modems in the United States. Megahertz this year was bought by US Robotics. It's a good match, with USR the biggest shareholder of desktop external and internal modems for desktop and tower Pc's.

Good PC Card modem, it's power consumption is rather high, but actually compared to many others it's quite good. The unit does have some durability problems, as a colleagues unit had it's X-Jack pins break. My earlier 14.4 model gave up the ghost, but was replaced via warranty via Fed-ex. This card is unique in that it has not only the X-Jack connector but a cable thin net attachment for your modem to get to a phone jack as well. This is handy if your running two cards, such as a ethernet card or memory card at the same time. Although I've run the X - Jack and a ethernet card with its adapter at the same time and while a tight fit, it works. The Megahertz card must be in the top slot for this to work. It's a mute point though if you use the adapter.
